Morris Gould Retiring as Executive Director of the Galveston Railroad Museum

After nearly 12 years at the helm of the Galveston Railroad Museum, Morris Gould is leaving as Executive Director. Mr. Gould was one of the founding members of the museum, and he began volunteering for the museum in February of 1983. He was a member of the Board of Directors for 20 years from 1986 - 2006.

In 2006, Mr. Gould was asked by the Board of Directors to become the Executive Director for the Museum. In 2008, Hurricane Ike devastated the Galveston Railroad Museum. With the support of the Board of Directors, Mr. Gould began the task of rebuilding the Galveston Railroad Museum. It was due to his dedication and hard work that the museum reopened in 2012. He has overseen many staff and volunteers over the years and will be missed in the day to day operations.

However, Mr. Gould will still be a regular at the museum. He will be taking over as the Chief Operating Officer for the GRRM. The GRRM is the official name of the museum’s short line railroad. Mr. Gould will oversee the repair, maintenance, and operation of the rolling stock for the museum. We look forward to seeing Morris in his new capacity!
